Some of you know that I’m working on a novel. And some of you are waiting to read it, either because you’re one of the people whom I’ve asked for feedback, or because you’ve heard me read the first tantalizing chapters at one of the increasingly popular readings, or because I’ve promised to send you a copy when it’s done, or because you’re one of those people who wants to see whether you’re in it. (Which you’re not, but if you want to buy a copy once it’s out just to make sure, that’s fine by me.)
Well, it’s not done. But… I have a treat for you anyway. Here’s an artsy wordcloud made from the 250 most common words from the manuscript as it is now. Click on the thumbnail to see it up close. Can you guess what the novel is about?
Probably not. But I bet you can guess the names of a few major characters…
Anyway. I better get back to wrapping up the next chapter.
Can you imagine if JK Rowling would’ve done this before any of the HP books were released? Internet pandemonium.
That’s cool. How does it work? Are the bigger words used more often, or does it just take the words and mix them up and assign font size randomly.
The bigger the word, the more it occurs. These are not all the chapters yet, only the ones that I’ve done a final edit on, so at least one of the most major characters – Meadow – will shrink quite a bit by the end of it all.
Hey! I didn’t know this, but I figured it would happen eventually. I’m certain that as I read, I’ll be paranoid that whatever the villain or dumber character does, it might in some way be based on myself. “You’re so vain…you probably think this book is…” haha
However, I will insist on buying one when it is released. I believe in paying money for good products. I’m already looking forward to it.
